Harley Oyloe- Fergus Falls

Harley played Legion baseball and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1938.  When his family moved to Fergus Falls, he pitched for the Fergus Falls Red Sox town team. In 1940 he signed a professional baseball contract as a pitcher for the St. Paul Saints.  He played for the Grand Forks Chiefs. His prime years as a pitcher may have been when he was in the Army during WWII. He played for his base team in California. The faced many major league players: Moose Skowron, Red Ruffing, Hank Bauer and Joe DiMaggio. After the war he returned to Fergus Falls. In 1950 he helped Fergus win the State Championship by pitching a 3-0 shutout.  Harley was on the Fergus Park and Recreation Board for twelve years.  He was on the committee to build the Legion Park in Fergus. He coached the Legion teams in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s and to a state title in 1960
